Description
Bring your data and join Ithaka S+R for a workshop at ALA
This workshop, led by Roger Schonfeld, is designed to help academic and research libraries make evidence-based decisions about how to support user discovery at their institutions.
The workshop will encompass:
- An overview of national-level data to help contextualize the issue of user discovery and frame some of the key questions that individual institutions may wish to consider;
- Group discussion of strategies for incorporating evidence most effectively into institutional decision-making on these topics;
- Group review of participants’ institution-level data, including what is useful and what is missing;
- Time to begin formulating institutional plans for structuring evidence-based decision-making processes on these issues.
Participants will benefit from this workshop by improving their ability to incorporate evidence into decision-making processes about the library's role in discovery.
Participants should bring data and documentation from their libaries, including:
- discovery patterns
- user preferences
- existing strategy regarding discovery
- budget documents
Prior to the event, we will contact all registrants and provide a checklist of materials to consider bringing.
Registration is capped at 25. If we do not reach our minimum registration of 10 participants, the workshop will be cancelled and full refunds will be issued.
Please contact Kimberly Lutz at kimberly.lutz@ithaka.org if you have questions about registering.
